Following the release of his gorgeous new album, The Saint of Lost Causes, just last Friday, Justin Townes Earle has announced his return to our side of the world.

Here, Earle has stuck to his traditionalist guns. Across 49 glorious minutes, Earle delivers his most inspired material of the last decade. Blending mid-century country blues with gentle, floating folk balladry, this is peak Earle. He is at his best when driven by old-school folk storytelling, and as he glides through the records 12 tracks it’s clear this is an album that deserves a complete listen.

“I was trying to look through the eyes of America, because I believe in the idea of America — that everybody’s welcome here and has a right to be here,” Earle said in a recent press release – and through this lens you’ll find Earle as both an empathetic storyteller and an angry onlooker. Characters abound – the disenfranchised and the downtrodden, the oppressed and the oppressors, the hopeful and the hopeless – individuals and communities that can be found in every corner of the country, struggling through the circumstances of everyday life.

This August, New Zealand fans will get to hear his new tunes firsthand. Last here for the Southern Fork Americana Fest back in 2017, it is a welcome return from the folk musician.
