Adele is Ticketmaster’s Ticket of the Year 2017 in New Zealand, as voted for by you!

Ticketmaster polled New Zealand fans from its database of 85 million live entertainment fans around the world to discover the most popular live events in 2017.

The British singer-songwriter’s Mt Smart Stadium show has been voted as the best live event in New Zealand in the last year, beating off stiff competition from Drake at Spark Arena in second place, and Matilda The Musical at The Civic, in third.

Performances by musical giants, Adele, Bruce Springsteen and Justin Bieber at the 47,000 capacity Mt Smart Stadium all take their place in the top ten, while New Zealand’s largest indoor venue, Spark Arena, has five concerts in the list. The poll also reveals that concert goers in New Zealand have an eclectic taste in music, featuring an array of genres, including pop, musical theatre, rock, metal, festivals and hip hop.

In the global results, Coldplay top the poll for votes cast across the world. Their immense technicolour Head Full of Dreams tour secured them a second year at the top of Ticketmaster’s poll.

Responding to their win, Coldplay said, “Thank you to everyone who voted for us as Ticketmaster Ticket of the Year 2017. The fact that we’re winning this award for the second year in a row says much more about our fans than it does about us, but we are truly grateful. Over the past two years, we played 114 shows in 76 cities and 31 countries around the world and we loved every minute of it. Thank you to everyone who came to those shows. It goes without saying, the tour would have been nothing without you.”

Looking ahead to next year, P!NK’s upcoming Beautiful Trauma world tour has been named as the most anticipated event for 2018. The American singer’s show has got pulses racing already as fans count down to what promises to be an unforgettable performance. Other hotly anticipated shows for 2018 in New Zealand include Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars and the Foo Fighters.
