Jonathan Van Ness announces 2020 New Zealand tour

Yas queen! Our fave (sshh don't tell Antoni) Queer Eye star Jonathan Van Ness is bringing his world tour to New Zealand in February 2020.

Emmy-nominated television personality, podcaster and hairstylist to the stars, Jonathan Van Ness has locked in a special Auckland show and we cannot wait.

As the star of the Emmy-nominated web series Gay of Thrones, and the Emmy-winning reality show Queer Eye, Jonathan Van Ness has become known for being absolutely fabulous.

For the first time ever, New Zealand fans will have the chance to experience that fabulousness live and in the flesh when he brings his unforgettable live show to our stages.

We are being promised big things, with Van Ness ready to serve up a healthy dose of “cirque-du-so-gay-realness between stand-up sets so good your face will be in need of a massage from all the smiling,” which sounds like a deliciously fabulous way to spend a Sunday if you ask us.

The premise of the show is an interesting one, and without giving too much away it’s all inspired by his ongoing attempt—and lifelong obsession—to become a figure-skating prodigy just in time for the next Olympic cycle, which just so happens to be in 2022 in Beijing.

Alongside winning over our hearts on Netflix’s reboot of Queer Eye, Van Ness also starred in Funny or Die’s Gay of Thrones – a witty social commentary series recapping HBO’s Game of Thrones. After launching in 2013, the series just wrapped up its seventh and final season after earning Emmy noms in both 2016 and 2018.

If you need more Van Ness in the lead up to next February, his weekly podcast Getting Curious is a great place to start. Exploring all the things he is curious about, the podcast recently won the iHeart Radio Award for Best LGBTQ Podcast.
