You need to know The Play That Goes Wrong

Catch the award-winning comedy in Auckland this October

It’s the Olivier Award-winning production that’s had the West End lol-ing, now The Play That Goes Wrong is heading for New Zealand.

Having recently made its debut in Australia, the Fawlty Towers-esque show is for fans of laughing awkwardly until your belly hurts.

A firm favourite on London’s West End, The Play That Goes Wrong also made its way onto Broadway this year.

Now it’s our turn to relish in this ever-so-unique comedy!

“We laughed until the tears ran down our faces,” said iconic English actress Joanna Lumley on the play, which follows a group of amateur actors performing a murder mystery, set in the 1920s.

Brought to us by the Mischief Theatre, The Plat That Goes Wrong follows The Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society as they make their attempt at the classic theatre genre.

As the title suggests though, things don’t exactly go to plan and everything that can go wrong…does, with the accident-prone thespians facing all kinds of stage fails before the show event begins.

There’s a reason why this show won Best New Comedy at London’s 2015 Olivier Awards, and it has everything to do with the hilariousness of the writing by Mischief Theatre company members Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields.

If you’ve got a penchant for comedy, theatre and owning the hottest tickets in town, this is one for you.

We’ve got tickets for The Play That Goes Wrong at Auckland’s ASB Waterfront Theatre – showing 11 – 15 October – book now at Ticketmaster.co.nz.
