Know Before You Go
Get prepared: Aladdin The Musical is here
Heading along to Aladdin The Musical at The Civic, Auckland? Here's everything you need to know before the big day.
Are you ready to be shown the world – shining, shimmering, splendid? Before you head on over to Agrabah, we’ve put together a list of everything you need to know. Strap yourself in and get prepared for this magic carpet ride.
The basics
Just a quick heads up – the production contains theatrical smoke, fog effects, pyrotechnics, strobe lighting, and loud noises. Also be prepared to dedicate 2 hours and 40 minutes of your night to this splendour (that includes a 20-minute interval, because we all need to stretch our legs.)
Get there early
Make sure you give yourself enough time to find your seats before Aladdin begins. We recommend 40-50 minutes, that’s more than enough time to get comfy. The Civic foyers and bars will be open one hour before the performance start time, so make sure to give yourself enough time to choose your snacks and drinks. Just remember, no hot food is permitted inside the auditorium, and please also refrain from bringing noisy snacks, drinks or packages into the theatre, in consideration of other people sitting around you.
If you are bringing small children or people with limited mobility, we recommend arriving in plenty of time to allow for bathroom breaks and finding your seats prior to the performance start time.
For those with special access requirements, please call Ticketmaster on 0800 111 999 in the first instance or Auckland Live on 09 309 2677. Alternatively, visit the venue’s Accessibility page for specific information about venue access.
Performance start times
All Aladdin performances will start promptly at their designated time (e.g. 1pm, 2pm, 6.30pm, 7.30pm etc.) and a lockout period applies for both the first and second half of the show. Patrons arriving late will not be admitted until a suitable break in the performance.
Phone use
Make sure you also schedule in enough time for you and your friends to take photos before the show (or after if that’s more your style). You’ll find Aladdin media walls inside The Civic foyers, ready for you to create your own red carpet moment.
However, once the performance begins, photography and recording of any kind are strictly prohibited – so please keep those phones in your bag or pocket. Even better, out of considerations for the performers on stage and your fellow audience members, please turn your phones off before the lights go down.
Information for Families
There are a limited number of booster seats available for children. While The Civic will be able to accommodate the majority of requests, you’re welcome to bring your own booster seat with you to guarantee your little one can see. Please note: Aladdin is recommended for ages 6+.
Children under 24 months of age can attend for free on a caregiver’s lap. A babes-in-arms ticket for entry must be obtained from The Civic box office on the day of the performance you are attending, prior to entry into the theatre. Please note that if the child becomes restless or causes a disturbance to surrounding patrons or performers, the venue along with producers of the show, may request they leave the auditorium until they are settled.
All children who will occupy a seat must have a valid ticket. All children under 14 years must be with a caregiver at all times. Caregivers must be aged 14 or over.
Parking and transport
There are a number of car parks nearby. The Civic car park is the closest carpark to The Civic, however, Victoria Street and Atrium on Elliot car parks are also within walking distance. For more information about parking and transport to Auckland Live venues, click here. Alternatively, visit Auckland Transport for bus, train and ferry options.
Have your tickets ready
To ensure everyone enters the venue as quickly and as smoothly as possible please make sure everyone in your group has their ticket out and ready before they head inside. Tickets will be scanned at the entrance of The Civic.
Some performances will be sold out and this may result in having to queue to enter the auditorium, so please ensure you give yourself enough time to get inside.
And finally, please make sure you check your tickets before you go to ensure you have the correct date and time for your performance.
Most importantly, have a fabulously magical time.
Aladdin The Musical will come to The Civic, Auckland until Sunday 24 February, 2019. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.co.nz.
