After having to cancel his ‘Nice To Meet Ya’ World tour – which included dates in Australia across October – this global livestream will be the first time Horan will get to perform tracks from his second album Heartbreak Weather to fans around the world.
In response to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that has put full-capacity live events on hold, all profits from the show will be shared between Niall’s touring crew who are currently unable to work and #WeNeedCrew relief fund – a recently launched hardship fund for the touring industry.
“I know that live events are something we all miss, and until we are able to return I want to highlight the incredible people who work in touring that make those events possible and whose livelihoods have been severely affected,” Horn says.
“I’m putting on this gig to try and raise awareness of the immense value they bring to an industry enjoyed by so many, and do something to help them and their families. I ask all my fans to support them with me and buy a ticket if you can, and I encourage all artists to do the same.”
The album, released back in March following his 2017 debut Flicker, debuted at number one on the Irish and UK album charts, as well as peaking at #2 here in Australia. Alongside singles ‘Nice To Meet Ya’, ‘Put A Little Love On Me’, ‘No Judgement’, and ‘Black and White’, Heartbreak Weather takes listener’s down a recent break-up’s memory lane – further showcasing Horan’s power as a solo artist.
During lockdown, Horan has been getting in his livestream practice. Alongside regularly showing up on Instagram live, guitar in hand, he has performed on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, Global Citizen’s Together At Home, The Crooner Sessions, BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend, The Graham Norton Show, and more. He has also shown support for Live Nation’s Crew Nation fund and Alone Ireland throughout this time.
Niall Horan will perform a one-off live-streamed concert at Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 8 November @ 10pm NZST. Tickets go on sale Friday 16 October @ 10pm NZST via Ticketmaster.co.nz
