Justin Timberlake – Our Leading Man

From his ‘Nsync days to “Justified,” we simply cannot spot a flaw in Justin Timberlake’s musical talent. The 20/20 Experience, has been critically well received and was 2013’s best selling album with over 4 million copies sold to date worldwide.  The multi-Grammy award winner is also a brilliant actor, writer and producer, thus, with his impending arrival to New Zealand we decided to pull together a list of his top ten hits.

10. Summer Love – 2007

“Summer Love,” is a song that captivates, telling a story of long lasting summer love. It reached #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the Billboard Pop Songs chart. The song was produced following Justin’s two-year hiatus from the music industry; when he felt a burn out after the release of his debut solo Justified in 2002.

9. Suit & Tie – 2013

“Suit & Tie,” premiered on YouTube on January 13, 2013, and was released on January 15th by RCA Records as the lead single from the album “The 20/20 Experience”. The single served as a highly anticipated musical comeback after a 6-year hiatus. The song debuted at #84 on the Billboard Hot 100 and also debuted at #13 on the Billboards Pop Songs chart with 6,045 plays which is the highest detection total by a new entry in the charts history.

8. Senorita – 2003

“Senorita,” distinguishes itself from Justin’s other songs with a Latin influence, the song was also influenced by Stevie Wonder. The hit was released as the fourth single from his debut album Justified. Senorita peaked at #27 on the Billboard Hot 100 but climbed to #1 in our hearts.

7. What goes around…Comes around – 2007

What goes around…Comes Around was seen as a sequel to the much loved hit Cry Me a River. The song became Justin’s third consecutive #1 hit and also won him Best Male Pop Vocal at the Grammy Awards. The song was also nominated for Record Of The Year.

6. SexyBack – 2006

“SexyBack,” was the memorable introduction to Justin’s second album FutureSex/LoveSounds. The song was yet another hit produced by Timbaland and Justin claimed influence by David Bowie, David Byrne and Prince. SexyBack flew straight to #1 on the pop charts, selling over 4 million copies.

5. Rock Your Body – 2002

“Rock Your Body,” is another hit from the album Justified. The song climbed to number five on the US Billboard Hot 100. It was certified gold by the Recording Industry Association of America and received positive reviews with music-critics and fans alike.

Choice Lyric: I like the way you move/So go ahead, girl, just do/That a**-shaking thing you do.

4. Like I Love You – 2002

“Like I Love You,” was Justin Timberlake’s first solo single following his departure from the boy band ‘Nync. Produced by the Neptunes the song reached #11 on the Billboard Hot 100 climbing to #1 on the dance charts.

3. Mirrors – 2013

After a hiatus Justin came back full swing with “Mirrors”, an eight minute love song prooving that his royal status will forever be embedded within pop culture. The song produced by Timbaland never fails to remind us of the magic between the two collaborators.

2. Cry Me A River – 2002

“Cry Me a River,” is rumored to have been written after Justin Timberlake’s relationship came to an end with pop princess and then girlfriend Britney Spears. The song peaked at #3 on the Billboard Hot 100 and went on to win a Grammy Award for Best Male Pop vocal.

1. My Love – 2006

“My Love,” was released as the second single from the album FutureSex/LoveSounds, its popularity far outweighed that of SexyBack. “My Love,” went on to win a Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung collaboration. The “Let Me Talk To You” medley also serves as a brilliant prelude to the song; featured in the music video including the songs producer Timbaland.
