Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone in concert

The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra will bring the much-loved film to life at Vector Arena

For the first time in New Zealand, Kiwi audiences can experience a symphony orchestra performing music from Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone.

The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra will play the entire soundtrack to the film, belonging to one of the most beloved film franchises in history.

It’s all happening at Vector Arena on Sunday 2 July as part of the Harry Potter Film Concert Series.

Audiences will be able to relive the magic of the film in high-definition on a 40-foot screen while hearing the live orchestra perform every note of John Williams’ unforgettable score.

CineConcerts and Warner Bros. Consumer Products previously announced the Harry Potter Film Concert Series, a new global concert tour celebrating the Harry Potter films.

On the series, Justin Freer, President of CineConcerts and Producer/Conductor of the Harry Potter Film Concert Series, explains, “The Harry Potter film series is one of those once-in-a-lifetime cultural phenomena that continues to delight millions of fans around the world. It is with great pleasure that we introduce for the first time ever an opportunity to experience the award-winning music scores played live by a symphony orchestra, all while the beloved film is simultaneously projected onto the big screen. It will be an unforgettable event.”

The Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra features in more than 50 main stage performances every year and showcases many of the world’s finest classical musicians. Renowned for its innovation, passion and versatility, 100,000 people hear the orchestra live each year, with many thousands more reached through special events, recordings and other media.
