Ed Sheeran returns to New Zealand

It seems Ed Sheeran’s love affair with New Zealand is far from over with the British singer songwriter announcing a stadium tour later this year.

The hugely popular performer will return to New Zealand in December and will perform at Mt Smart Stadium in front of tens of thousands of screaming fans.

The upcoming tour will be extremely unique as it will be the first time an artist has performed stadium shows in New Zealand and Australia completely solo. Ed Sheeran will walk on stage with nothing but a guitar and every sound you hear will be made from his voice and instrument, alongside a series of loop pedals that will fill the large venues with his amazing tunes.

It is an extremely courageous move and highlights the sheer talent of the man. It takes a very special performer to play to a huge audience completely solo – but as we all know, Ed Sheeran is no ordinary artist.

His most recent album x was one of the highest selling albums of 2014 and spent six weeks at number 1 on the Australian music charts. The album includes hit singles Sing, Don’t, Thinking Out Loud and Bloodstream featuring Rudimental.

Ed Sheeran’s newest singles add to an already incredible list of hits including The A Team, Small Bump, Lego House, Give Me Love, Kiss Me and Photograph.

Sheeran has stated he loves performing on our shores and the love affair is anything but one way; Ed Sheeran’s recent tour in New Zealand and Australia saw him perform in front of close to 190,000 adoring fans. And the rest of the world is just as crazy about Ed Sheeran. His current tour features more than 170 tour dates around the globe and he has also performed at major festivals including Glastonbury, T in the Park and Southside.

And just to reinforce Ed Sheeran’s ability to fill major venues, the Grammy-nominated singer has sold out New York’s Madison Square Garden and London’s Wembley Stadium three times over. His credentials as a big time music superstar are clear to see.

Ed Sheeran will perform at Mt Smart Stadium on December 12. Presale tickets will go on sale from 2pm (local time) on Tuesday April 28. The general public on sale begins on Tuesday May 5 from 12pm (local time).  Click here for more information and to purchase tickets.
