AC/DC was formed by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young in 1973. Although born in Scotland, the brothers moved to Sydney in 1963 and ten years later one of the greatest rock bands of all time was formed and ready to take the world by storm.
AC/DC enjoyed quick success following their debut album High Voltage in 1975. Over the next few years the group followed up with popular albums, T.N.T., Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap, Let There Be Rock and Powerage.
In 1979 AC/DC released their hugely popular album, Highway To Hell – their last with original singer Bon Scott, who died early the following year.
While many doubted AC/DC’s ability to continue without the charismatic Bon Scott, the group remained at the top following Brian Johnson’s arrival as lead singer in April 1980.
In July, AC/DC released Back in Black, an album that received popular and critical success and launched AC/DC as one of the best rock acts of all time both in Australia and all around the world.
Back in Black is considered one of the greatest rock albums in history. The album sold more than 22 million copies in the United States alone and is the fifth highest selling album in the USA ever.
AC/DC have a reputation for phenomenal live performances. Brian Johnson is the ultimate showman and the tireless Angus Young – dressed in his signature school uniform – has to be seen to be believed.
AC/DC last performed in New Zealand during the Black Ice World Tour in 2010. The tour was universally admired and saw hundreds of thousands of fans rocking out with the signature AC/DC devil horns.
The upcoming AC/DC tour promises to be every bit as amazing as previous tours with incredible staging and effects and of course the songs of AC/DC we all know and love so well.
If you are yet to see AC/DC live you cannot miss this opportunity. And if you have seen AC/DC live then you know how awesome the show will be!
