Madiba The Musical – inspiration through story & song
'Madiba The Musical' will share the inspiring story of Nelson Mandela with New Zealand audiences this January and February.
Combining African dance with vocal traditions, alongside eternal love songs and stirring anthems, Madiba – The Musical pays tribute to Nelson Mandela’s life work as a lawyer and activist through the story of a young artist named Will, who becomes the victim of Apartheid in South Africa
The epic show pays tribute to the charismatic icon and activist while exploring the struggles, racial conflicts and divisions behind his unyielding crusade for reconciliation in South Africa.
In his 95 years, Mandela served 27 years in prison for fighting the racist white ruling in South Africa, brought through the end of Apartheid, became the first black president of South Africa in a fully representative democratic election and has received more than 250 honours, including the Nobel Peace Prize.
Madiba The Musical will come to Bruce Mason Centre, Takapuna Beach from Friday 25 January until Sunday 3 February before moving to The Opera House Wellington from Thursday 7 February until Sunday 10 February. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.co.nz.
