Raggamuffin 2014

Held annually in New Zealand since 2008, Raggamuffin is Australasia’s premier reggae and roots festival that features an unrivaled line up of international and top local artists.

This annual event has already seen huge acts such as UB40, Mary J Blige, Lauryn Hill and three of Bob Marley’s sons take the stage. After seven years in Rotorua, Raggamuffin is switching things up by coming to Auckland-not only coming closer to existing fans but building an entirely new fan base in the heart of New Zealand. Deemed as being electrifying, awesome and relaxing by your everyday music lover the next event will be held on Saturday 13 December 2014. We can already smell the summer breeze!

British reggae royalty UB40 ft Ali Campbell, Astro & Mickey Virtue and American hip-hop legend Ice Cube will headline the premiere Sunday festival. A delight for fans will be to witness a freshly reformed UB40, the three founding members – Ali Campbell, Astro and Mickey Virtue have reunited to bring fans the true sound of one of reggae’s biggest acts, and will play new music alongside all time favorites such as ‘Red Red Wine’.  An exciting addition to the show we hear is the featuring of two stages, one reggae and one urban. The urban stage takes on acts including Pacific reggae artist Fiji, Jamaica legends Chronixx and Etana and British icon Gappy Ranks who will play a set with Aotearoa’s own P-Money.

Raggamuffin has traditionally supported New Zealand youth charities with the last event raising funds for charity Y for Youth. This years Raggamuffin will be once again in support of Y for Youth which provides vital assistance to a range of New Zealand youth organizations.

This one day event is not to be missed. With a talented line up and central location, what better excuse do we need to enjoy the summer weather and kick back with some reggae beats!
