Following the success of Freddie Mercury biopic 'Bohemian Rhapsody', Queen original band members Brian May and Roger Taylor will again team up with Adam Lambert to tour New Zealand in 2020.
Whether you’re a lifelong Queen fanatic or you’ve been newly converted, there is going to be singalongs galore when Queen return to New Zealand in February 2020.
The coming together of Queen original band members Brian May and Roger Taylor alongside American pop superstar Adam Lambert has been a monumental success.
While no one can possibly come close to filling the huge shoes that Freddie Mercury left, fans around the world have been astounded by how brilliant a tribute Lambert pays to Queen’s late frontman.
Lambert, a stellar musician in his own right, will once again step into the Queen songbook, and help bring their much-loved anthems to life onstage.
Adam Lambert says: “We have a brand-new visual spectacle that will reframe these iconic songs and we are excited to reveal the show to New Zealand fans.”
Queen last toured New Zealand and Australia with Lambert in early 2018, and before that in 2014. But forget what you already think you know about the show, because the tour is promising to debut a brand-new, larger-than-life production with set designer Ric Lipson saying the tour will, “expand the parameters of what a live music experience can be” and promising the show will “to be their most spectacular yet, an innovative and interactive celebration of the continued power of Queen’s music.”
Guitarist Brian May can’t wait to arrive in New Zealand stages. “This is a great opportunity,” he says. “Our last tour featured our most ambitious production ever and got us our best notices ever. So we decided to rip it apart and get even more ambitious! Watch out, New Zealand.”
With more than 180 shows under their belts together since Lambert first shared the stage with Queen in 2009, the partnership has proven to be an exciting triumph and the perfect tribute to a forever-classic songbook.
Queen and Adam Lambert will take over Mt Smart Stadium, Auckland on Friday 7 February 2020 and Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin on Monday 10 February 2020. Tickets are available via Ticketmaster.co.nz.
